Facade & Glass Engineering

Chicago is also filled with examples of early American skyscrapers. One of those, the Northwest Tower, in the Wicker Park neighborhood, looks like a sibling of the Flatiron Building in Manhattan. So creating a new window framing system at street level required both respecting the building’s long heritage and meeting the intense display needs of its new retail occupants.

Wolf Point’s engineers worked closely with the iron and glazing suppliers to provide designs to suit the site’s unusual requirements while preserving the original ornate framing. Wolf Point was hired by Chicago Ornamental Iron to review and complete the structural design of a new window framing system as part of the refurbishment of the Northwest Tower in Wicker Park, Chicago.

The windows are at street level and on the second floor and required designs to suit their unusual installation, support and thermal requirements.
