Black Mountain Sand

Wolf Point Engineers and Contractors (WPE) recently delivered two frac sand material handling systems to Turnkey Processing Solutions, Inc. (TPS) for their Black Mountain Sand VEST and El Dorado projects located near Kermit, Texas.

The scope of work for each project included the engineering, fabrication and supply (EP) of the following:

  • (2) 800 TPH 36” wide tripper feed conveyors fed from the wet plant

  • (2) 800 TPH 36” wide tripper conveyors including tripper cars with 400 foot travel

  • (2) 800 TPH 36” wide reclaim conveyors

  • (4) Rotary Dryer support structures & platforms

  • (1) 225’L x 55’W x 88’H Dry Screening building supporting 20 Rotex Mineral Separators, consisting of four product circuits, including all chute work from surge bins down to take-away conveyors

  • (2) Transfer Towers

  • All associated chute work and skirtboards

  • Mechanical supply

The following foundation designs were also included:

  • Auger-cast grout piles for conveyor structures, reclaim tunnels and dryers

  • (2) Concrete reclaim tunnels under the stockpiles

  • All WPE supplied conveyors foundations

  • Dry screening building and bucket elevators

  • Pre-engineered metal buildings over the stockpiles

  • The structural steel and majority of the chute work for both projects were fabricated in-house by NAFCO. Due to the unique synergy between NAFCO and Wolf Point, the projects were executed in record time and in accordance to the strict requirements of our client.

Foundation designs, conveyors and structural steel were all completed and delivered per the customer’s required sequencing, allowing TPS to incorporate a phased-commissioning approach for the four processing circuits running through the dry screening building. The overall time from order to delivery of each project was less than six months.
