June 2021

Wolf Point wins 2021 Excellence in Engineering Award

 

Wolf Point Engineers & Contractors was awarded the 2021 Excellence in Engineering Award by the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI) in the Best Industrial/Utility Project category for its work on Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company’s Sooner Generating Station Conveyors 10 & 11 Replacement Project, in Red Rock, Oklahoma. The awards competition is held each year to “recognize creative achievement in structural engineering via innovative structural designs and individual contributions that advance the profession,” says the SEAOI. The conveyor system handles Powder River Basin sub-bituminous coal. Wolf Point’s scope of work included engineering, procurement, fabrication, demolition and installation. December 2020

Wolf Point completes substantial completion of the Conveyors 10 & 11 Replacement Project at the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company Sooner Generating Station near Red Rock, Oklahoma 

The project consisted of replacing the aging walk-through galleries, support structures and over-2,100-foot-long, 36-inch-wide 740 TPH plant-feed conveyors 10 and 11 with completely new conveyors, 12.5-foot-diameter tubular galleries, chutes and new foundations. Wolf Point’s scope of work included engineering, procurement, fabrication, demolition and installation. Read more about the project here.

Amec Foster Wheeler hires Wolf Point for gypsum material handling system

 

The system will be an integral part of Louisville Gas & Electric’s upgrade to reduce pollution at the Mill Creek Generating Station, in Louisville, Kentucky. Wolf Point will provide layouts and general arrangement drawings, and well as structural steel, platework and mechanical drawings, and also procure motors and conveyor safety devices, including conveyor steel, idlers, belting and drives, in addition to transfer towers, gravity take-ups and primary and emergency radial stackers.

August 2018
Wolf Point to furnish solids handling system at Georgia Power’s Plant Scherer

 

The scope of work includes engineering, structural steel fabrication, procurement, delivery, testing and commissioning of this integral element of Georgia Power’s Coal Combustion Residual and Water Management Project, featuring hoppers, telescopic chutes, dust collection, dust suppression, a dust extractor, truck unloaders and railcar loaders, diverter gates and transfer towers. Plant Scherer, near Juliette, Georgia, is one of the largest coal fired power plants in the U.S., consisting of four units burning Powder River Basin coal and producing over 3,500 megawatts per hour of electricity. Georgia Power is a subsidiary of Southern Company.
